Your child’s first Orthodontist Visit
Orthodontics can play a major role in your child’s oral health and appearance. Our orthodontist in El Paso Dr. Bowden recommends that an ideal time to visit an orthodontist is when the upper front teeth of your child begin to erupt or when they are aged between 7-8 years. Our orthodontist is skilled and trained to evaluate and identify the misalignment and bite issues at an early age.

The transition from primary teeth to permanent teeth is one of the crucial stages. Baby teeth lay the foundation for the permanent teeth and their correct position. This is the reason why an orthodontic checkup of your child’s mouth is important while they still have baby teeth. While your child’s teeth may look straight, but there may be many underlying problems with the way permanent teeth erupt, the way upper and lower jaw develop, a misaligned bite, crowding, problems due to thumb sucking and other unhealthy practices.
Consult with us if your child experiences any of the following:
- Difficulty chewing or biting
- Sucks their thumb
- Has crowded, misaligned or misplaced teeth
- Difficulty speaking
- Bites their cheeks
- Grinds or clenches their teeth
- Jaw shifting or if the jaw that appears far forward or far back
