Elastics
Elastics move the teeth in a direction which cannot be accomplished with "braces" alone. It may seem hard for you to put the elastics on at first, but it will become easy with practice.
Your teeth will be a little tender for three to four days when you first begin wearing them. Elastic wear must be constant! At least 22 hours per day and 7 days per week.
If you wear elastics for several hours, then take them off for a while, put them back on, etc., you will get a lot of back and forth movement, and no progress will be made in your treatment.
This is not healthy for your teeth. You will always have tenderness, too, if you don't wear them all the time.
Please carry a package with you all the time. Please call us if you run out, and we will be happy to mail another package to you.
Change the elastics at least twice a day (every 12 hours). If one side breaks, replace both sides.
When brushing, place elastics on your little finger to remind you to replace them immediately following brushing.
Elastic wear is an important key to the speed in which your treatment is completed and the final result.
Good luck with your elastics! Please call if you have any questions. Thank you!
